The boundary between &#8220;epistemic thing&#8221; and &#8220;technical object&#8221; is not static and identifying something as either or not permanent. Therefore, insight is neither inevitable nor complete. Rheinberger&#8217;s experiences as a molecular biologist has brought the &#8220;materiality of the natural sciences&#8221; into the focus of the history of science. (<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hans-J%C3%B6rg_Rheinberger\">https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hans-J%C3%B6rg_Rheinberger<\/a>) <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In seinen Schriften (u.a. \u201eExperimentalsysteme und epistemische Dinge \u2013 Eine Geschichte der Proteinsynthese im Reagenzglas\u201c, 2001) beschreibt Hans-J\u00f6rg Rheinberger \u201eepistemische Dinge\u201c zun\u00e4chst durch ein gewisses Ma\u00df an Unbestimmtheit, was sie als Erkenntnisgegenst\u00e4nde interessant macht: \u201eEs ist genau diese Unbestimmtheit, die sie \u00fcberhaupt zu epistemischen Dingen werden l\u00e4sst, das hei\u00dft zu jenen Dingen, \u00fcber die neues, also noch nicht verf\u00fcgbares Wissen im Experimentierprozess eingeholt werden soll.
