Alle sitzen in der Badewanne/ Exquisite Corps
It melts.
From my head down the knees - elty melty chocolate in my brain.
Brain is fluid. its lacking. dripping off.
I lost it. Not able to catch it anywhere.
“No, you didn’t lost it”, She said.
She enjoyed confusion.
Finally she decided to walk through it imagining it as Benjamins Paris’s Passages.
Today, Paul left his apartment very early in the morning; I hardly heard him closing the door.
Alex is a mindful person. He doesn’t want people to wake up so early.
“Yes he is”.
They forgot the letter S, „Yes She is“.
Is everything about one letter? Can one letter have such a meaning? Looks like…
For sure there are some more dominant than others
I personally prefer hermit crabs.
What a nice ending!
Oh no. Wait! I forgot to say something.
My eyes are dry and my belly is empty.
I look at my hands, they become some one else’s hands.
wishfull expectations — project week
I would like to question more my own practice: getting more into my MA Project idea, get to know your approach concerning your own practice and interact with it ! Also I'm thinking about developing a project for the Lange Nacht.
I would like to question where I can go with my practice when there's no possibilties / or very limited one to share it. Maybe as well play with other practices as my background cooking. Like to share and here about the others.
For the week I wish to work on my masterproject as working on the expression of my reading for the recordings and finish the skript and also get into the music for the upcoming rehearsals for the dance production I gonna have in Belgium. I would always be up for a short impro-session with voice and/or on the piano - just having fun of exploring sounds and resonance. I would also love to listen to your stories, things that makes you really excited, things you feel your inner fire.
During the week I am going to work on a costume and on my master thesis. Also I want to put two plants in the atelier in bigger pots, to make them feel more comfortable. Here are my wishes/expectations: 1. exchange different methods/practices with you guys, 2. think about practice: what is "your" practice? what is practice in general? ( opposition to theory / specific way of doing something /...) what can be a practice? how can practice be valuated? ....
I originally wanted to bring my sewing machine to the LAB to work on a costume, but since it's raining I don't feel very comfortable to transport it. I would propose that I work at home in the morning and join you via zoom and in the afternoon I will have finished the parts I need the sewing machine for and join you in person.
As Judith mentioned, we would like to work on our first journal of the KP (Künstlerische Praxis) and will get some visit of the other members Njomza and Alex inbetween. This journal is leaned on a documentation of what has happened, what will happen and everything important crossing our way while researching, exploring, practicing and discussing. To make sure that we will have a Künstlerische Praxis going on during these days and also that we work in and on it my item to bring will be a yellow marking tape, which will mark the Praxis. Of course everyone is welcomed anytime! ;) As I am staying in quaranine with my Covid positive flatmate until Tuesday I will only be able to join virtually the first two days - and be there physically from Wednesday. Is there any plan yet from the Kernteam side how to integrate the abandoned people during these days?
I would like to continue my work concerning the topic of spacial practices - practicing space along questions: How can the existing be thought differently, not binary? What are the differences between systems, samples and protocols? And could the concept of the third space be helpful to understand how a Glitch could be made productive as artistic strategy?
1. to continue the work on my current project 'Frauen in die Werkstatt', 2. to think about my MA idea and 3. to let inspire myself for new ideas. Overall I wish to find exchange, talks and to brainstorm with other people.
I would like to offer again haircuts and walks around zhdk and limmat to align our thoughts with the rhythm of our own walking movement and to sharpen our perception of the surrounding - it always helps me a lot when thoughts get so confused :) Additionally Klara and I would like to realize our first journal during the week as part of the Künstlerische Praxis. So during this week I hope to be able to unravel myself, to advance the things I am involved in and to share my skills with you.
I would like to work on a streaming concept for a concert between Zurich and Hong Kong. It considers the feeling of virtual presence and belonging.
I aim to work on a performance project started in the context of another seminar (Switch on the light and listen); the idea is to develop an audiovisual improvisation setting, in collaboration with musicians. This performance would be presented in the context of the Lange Nacht. In parallel, I would like to work on some text I started recently; maybe - hopefully - those two things will come together in some way.
the rules
The Practice Lab is dedicated to the individual or collaborative works of its participants, providing time, space and a resonance field. "Practice" is often contrasted with "theory", be it in mutually supporting or even competing, sometimes disturbing, forms. Instead, we want to connect "practice" with "poiesis", with doing, creating, with an action that aims to produce something, to impose a certain form on a material. This material can be pictorial, tonal or physical, it can be processed in analogue or digital form; anything participants’ artistic or creative action consists of.
Besides this practical, poetic work, which is the focus of the lab, we also ask questions about the practices related to individual action. These questions constitute themselves as actions.
In order to be be able to navigate the open sea, the inhabitants of Micronesia practiced a technique that did not require modern aids such as maps or compasses. They covered huge distances in the open ocean and settled on a large number of islands in the South Pacific. Orientation was based on star constellations, extensive knowledge of local conditions such as currents, wind, reefs and wave forms. This knowledge formed a frame of reference that enabled the boat driver to refer to the local conditions and adjust the course of the boat. In contrast to Western map-based thinking, which followed mathematical models, the special feature of this practice is a dynamic thinking in space, in whose centre are man and place.
A series of factors determine our actions in work processes. The lab should enable to take into account which basic conditions, spatial atmospheres, personal constellations or individual moods are the most important factors for the success of a project. To promote one’s own action, but also which skills, knowledge, procedures or rules that may be necessary – or even obstructive – for this. For example, how does the environment influence the work process? What role does the scenography play in this, and how does the working space differ from the performance space? What are the mental spaces that are created, which narrative will be revealed? How important are disturbances or intuitive settlements?
In transdisciplinary arts, the work processes are just as different as their results. Whether alone or in exchange with others, what is essential are the actors and the place from which thought and practice are carried out. The knowledge brought in and individual experiences influence the procedures as well as the techniques used. It is therefore necessary to ask how do we orient and navigate through the multitude of factors and how do we create a frame of reference through our actions.
The constellation of the Lab also allows us to relate these questions, materials as well as the resulting sketches, approaches, intermediate results or experiments to each other, whether by looking over each other's backs, by bringing ideas and skills into the work of the others or use it mutually. This way and to this end, we will develop playful, poietic rules that enable a productive working environment.
For emerging artistic or creative works there is the possibility, but not the obligation, to be shown within the framework of existing formats – such as the series of events "Klang und Krach" (24.11.), the "Lange Nacht der Zeitgenössischen Musik" (4.12.) – or in a selforganized presentation in the Kunstraum (12.-15.12.).
