The project took place in Vienna from Sep-Oct 2008 and in Hong Kong from Sep-Oct 2009. It moves to steer the focus away from the current top-down urban regeneration rhetoric, spotlighting place-making theorisation and practices through grassroots initiatives. This publication provides a theoretical guide to these pressing issues with original essays by specialists from cultural studies and policy, visual art, new media and architecture.
